#sadafayazwrites On Happiness and Self-Appreciation
July 1st, 2018 Sometimes I get caught up with the idea of happiness. But as I’m getting older and experiencing the world minus the protective arms of my parents—both experiencing successes I never imagined and losses I don’t think I was (or anyone can be) prepared for, I’m realizing happiness is not the award at the top of the mountain. It can’t be. I think I’m realizing that happiness and bliss does constitute of is all the ups and downs. Finding downs that highlight the ups in your life you never appreciated before. I’ve noticed I tend to overlook my hard work at times and forget the struggle I’ve gone…

#sadafayazwrites On Patterns, Anxiety, and A Thing Called Depression
June 14th, 2018 I spent this past month recognizing patterns. Both in my life and in the lives of others. While fasting, I was able to take a step away from the world to focus on myself like an outsider seeing everything unfold in slo-mo. I noticed moments and words that were actually triggers. I admitted that sometimes when I was feeling overwhelmed it wasn’t just nothing that would leave in a few minutes if I could *just* switch my mindset. I recognized it as anxiousness. As anxiety. I noticed my low moments as depression and how it’s not there all the time (at least not to it’s fullest) but…

#sadafayazwrites Be Brave
June 11th, 2018 Hey, you. Be brave. In those moments of self-doubt and those moments of fear. Be brave. Eff it. Go out there. Face them head on. Eye to eye. And then keep at it. Be brave. You have more than what you think you’re capable of. You are more than good enough. Don’t settle. Fight. Be brave. Believe in you and your dream, and all that you one day hope to be. Be brave. You are extraordinary and phenomenal. Resilient and beautiful. Strong and intelligent. It’ll all pass. Let go of everything that holds you back. Cut it all out. Cut them all out. Be brave because all…

#sadafayazwrites On Accepting My True Self
May 14th, 2017 As I grow older and meet new people with amazing life stories, I can’t help but realize how limited I’ve made myself in accepting my true self, doing what I love, and saying how I truly feel. I grew up thinking I didn’t matter and neither did my thoughts. And once I made mistakes, I knew for sure I should just stop. Somewhere along the way, I stopped forming opinions. I silenced the part of me that had something different to say. I forgot, in a weird way, what it was that I truly liked. Like a new habit, I began shrugging and agreeing with the people…

Metanoia: A Movement Towards Our Best Selves
By SADAF AYAZ April 12, 2018 **Originally published on REV 21 Media “Search for yourself, by yourself. Do not allow others to make your path for you. It is your road, and yours alone. Others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you.” —— met·a·noi·a metəˈnoiə/ noun change in one’s way of life resulting from penitence or spiritual conversion. Origin: Late 19th century: from Greek, from metanoein (change one’s mind). Throughout life–perhaps due to age, experiences we have and will continue to go through, or the influence of those around us–one thing is clear: we will all continuously go through an inner change. So many people go…

Father Forgets: A Tribute to Relationships
**Originally published on REV 21 Media By SADAF AYAZ March 2nd, 2018 “Father Forgets, by W. Livingston, is a reflection on the day his son stirred his heart. A beautiful reminder of the innocence of youth and the unawareness of adulthood.” The relationship dynamic between parents and their children is a unduplicatable. Often, one in which love is boundless and immeasurable. From the moment a child is born, both the child and the parents are tumbled into a connection that cannot be helped. FATHER FORGETS IS ONE OF THE CLASSIC POEMS OUR GENERATION HASN’T HEARD MUCH OF BUT PORTRAYS A LESSON WE ALL SHOULD BE AWARE OF. WHETHER WE ARE PARENTS,…

Millennials Are Tyrants: Why People Hate Millennials
**Originally published on REV 21 Media By SADAF AYAZ February 11, 2018 “The new changes that become a normal part of life for the youth, become a strange, new concept for adults and because of this cycle, it seems, each generation gets worse and worse.” The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers. Many people…

The New Definition of “Billionaire”
By SADAF AYAZ August 1, 2017 “Silva defines “billionaire” as: He who positively affects the lives of a billion people.” “We need to extend our hands to one another.” Being a Billionaire no longer holds only the definition: “a person possessing assets worth at least a billion dollars,” instead, a new hashtag #RedefineBillionaire has now added a new meaning to it. In a YouTube video, Jason Silva’s redefines the word “billionaire” from the general meaning we know of. Everyone thinks a billionaire is someone who is rich and successful, and therefore, everyone strives to achieve it. However, there is a new way to become a billionaire. Silva defines “billionaire” as:…

By: SADAF AYAZ April 4th, 2017 **Originally published on REV 21 Media “Over the past week, there has been a ruckus of discussion in the science world over Trump’s intention to cut almost 17.8% (nearly $5.8 billion) from the NIH budget. “ In the US, one in two women and one in three men will develop cancer during their lifetime.
