Being a Billionaire no longer holds only the definition: “a person possessing assets worth at least a billion dollars,” instead, a new hashtag #RedefineBillionaire has now added a new meaning to it.
In a YouTube video, Jason Silva’s redefines the word “billionaire” from the general meaning we know of. Everyone thinks a billionaire is someone who is rich and successful, and therefore, everyone strives to achieve it. However, there is a new way to become a billionaire. Silva defines “billionaire” as: He who positively affects the lives of a billion people.

Silva says “Individuals with technology now have the capacity to change the world in ways that governments and large corporations used to be able to do in the past, but we often don’t leverage what’s possible. Our brains evolved in a world that’s linear and local. Technology is moving at an exponential pace and a global scale. Our brains haven’t kept pace. We need new maps and mental schemas to help us think of technology as an exoskeleton, an extension of our cognition, and understand what’s possible.”
With new technology making it easier and easier to communicate with the world, it is our responsibility to take a step forward and use it for the better. Rather than forgetting about the side of the world that is suffering, we should come together and strive to spread positivity, love, and happiness in the world. Post a video and make people smile or send out a big message through it as Silva himself is doing. Write a paper that will lead a positive change. Or, say something that will leave the minds of people shaken and forced to do more good in the world.
We all have the capability and resources to change the world.
Jason Silva is the host of an intriguing show on National Geographic Channel called Brain Games, in addition to that, this awesome dude is also a philosopher and student of knowledge. Recently, he started a new YouTube series called “Shots of Awe.” Each and every video literally leaves the audience with an eye-boggling, mind-blowing view on life.
Jason Silva hopes that one day, philosophy can be in the minds of every human. Silva partnered with a filmmaker Leonardo Dalessandri to create the quick-paced video, “Captain of Spaceship Earth.” He mixed into the short clip, Silva’s unscripted “freestyle philosophy” on the importance of taking technology as an advantage to bring positivity to the world.
Silva says that this should be our goal, “it should be our responsibility” to become billionaires. His definition of billionaire.
We can do this. Don’t let technology ruin you. Use technology as an advantage and change the world.
